🤨 Why isn't the number 11 pronounced ‘onety-one’? 🍅 If a tomato is a fruit, does that make ketchup a smoothie? 🐭 Why is there no mouse-flavoured cat food? 🌀 How come abbreviated is such a long word? 🏡 Why do we call it a building, when it’s fully built?
Getting older sucks, and part of that is because suddenly we’re expected to know everything, stop the silliness and act only with a thoughtful, mature demeanour in everyday life. We stop questioning these kinds of things out of fear of looking stupid, and in turn we inadvertently allow room for more stupidity. We get less creative, think less differently and make less original things.
Kids aren’t afraid to ask questions that are considered dumb. We’ve all been there. Adults do their best to answer them when often, we don’t know the answers ourselves. This child-like curiosity towards questioning the way of the world — things that seem so obvious when they’re actually asked — is the foundation of creative thinking.
